Sai Kung Detached House
Sai Kung Detached House is a detached house project in Sai Kung, New Territories. The turn of the staircase is the focus, with warm light strips set into the timber treads, frameless glass balustrades and a textured tile wall behind; the ground floor living and dining area takes a semi-open layout, with floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors out to the terrace and plenty of daylight.

A continuous window seat runs along the living room glazing, daylight sweeping in through the full-height windows; a grey sofa and pale timber floor keep the room spare, and the staircase sits at the far end without drawing attention.

A full wall of floor-to-ceiling glazing brings the hill view into the living room, with only a line between inside and out; a pale floor and fabric sofa spread the light more evenly.

The staircase climbs on floating treads, the handrail drawn in a slender line; textured stone forms the backdrop on the wall, and under the lighting the texture reads at once.

A round table and a low side table are kept by the window, looking out onto greenery; the ceiling is trimmed in timber, carrying the outdoors inside.

A water wall occupies one corner of the garden, the water running down dark stone into a shallow pool; a stone bench runs along the wall, with a row of orchids above it forming a screen.

The roof terrace is laid throughout in dark timber-grain decking, with louvred panels along the railing to block overlooking; a round rattan sun chair sits in the corner, looking out to the bay and the hills beyond.

Marble-effect surfaces run across both the cabinetry and the worktop, crisp and white throughout; the long layout sets out the sink, the hob and the storage in order, so the working route runs straight through.

The main bedroom takes the sea as its backdrop, a wide blue canvas meeting the pale wood bedhead; a bench and a rug sit at the foot of the bed, and a single chair by the window makes a place to sit and look out.
